:: PLEASE FULL VIEW :: ---------------------------------------- ------------- Yea, just what're you lookin' at? XD Oh, how I love this! I had been wanting to draw this pose ever since I caught sight of myself slouching in a mirror. When I saw myself slouching, I slouched to the extreme (heh) and got this pose. I drew this about two weeks ago, and started CGing last week. I added shading and highlighting on Wednesday, and did the backlighting and finishing touches today. I had no idea this drawing was going to turn out as it did. When thinking about drawing this pose (this was on my mind for a week or two before I actually drew it) I was just gonna have it be a girl who looked like me. Then I thought maybe I should make it Chris from meh comic Burger Boy. And finally when I sat down at meh bro's computer desk, bored silly due to the fact none of the computers in the house wanted to log online, I decided that I wanted to draw a guy with cool spiky hair. So, I drew and redrew and drew and redrew until I got what you see now as far as the head (I almost always start face/head first). Then came the body...I drew it and noticed that it had a very femine flare to it. I loved both the face and body, and really didn't want to change either...I wanted that pose damn it!!! > __< So, I sat and thought for a couple of minutes as to what I should do. I almost went to erasing the hair when I was suddenly struck with brilliance. I added boobs and little eyelashes, and walla!! XD I inked this baby and got a picture better than anything I had imagined. I just couldn't erase that head...the hair...the killer expression...it was just too good to go baby...Plus, it gets boring drawing girls with long girlish hair...Yay for spikes!!!! Woooo!!! XD It was really fun working on this boyish lookin' girl. Ok, I know I just killed you guys with that long arse description...but I wanted to tell the story behind this...heh.. Everything © |

Actually, I did try out a black border and white square, but it just didn't work for me. On my comp I can make out the upper body quite well (in full view, cause the preview image just kills this). Origianlly the sguare was the same shade as the pants, but I liked black better...not really sure why tho...lol.. I think it makes for a neat effect cause it does make the upper body blend in a bit, and thus make ya have to look that much harder to figure out the gender. Heh...I love making things difficult...er...uh...yea... XD And, of course the JPG just kills this...the upper body stands out really nicely in the PSD version...and then there are the pesky monitor diffrences that can make it even darker....
Ok, enough babbling from me....God, I type too much....

Aah, I see what you mean about keeping the square black. Yeah, it really does make it confusing to tell the gender of the person, xD. It fooled me, so you know it works, hehe. I think the black is better too than if it was the same shade as the pants, because the bl/wh thing is so much more bold, fitting to the expression.
I can sympathize with being frustrated when preview pics aren't all up to par. Though I did full-size yours when I viewed it ^_^. Oh, and how you mentioned the PSD looked better... I've been having that problem too with Adobe lately. Even saving at maximum quality, it still didn't look as nice as the PSD :S. What I find helps is this kinda complicated but useful method. It involves opening up the art piece on Adobe, making sure it's fully visible. Then take a screenshot (alt-printscrn). Open up MS Paint and paste it there. Crop off all of the other screen stuff and save the image as a bitmap. Then open it up on Adobe, save as a JPEG, and it will look like the PSD ^_^. After a few times it doesn't seem to be as troublesome anymore, and I haven't been able to live with Adobe-saved jpegs since, XD
(who'da known MS Paint bitmaps would do a better job?
